  • Overview

    Maser Consulting is seeking a Electrical Engineer to join our Energy Sector who can provide design assistance and related activities within a design team in support of projects ranging from large renewable and transmission level substation interconnections and design to smaller low voltage projects.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs tasks that include preparation of simple designs and calculations.
    • Gathers and maintains specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.
    • Performs computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas.
    • Receives detailed instructions as to required tasks.
    • Receives objectives and technical advice from supervisor.
    • Performs assignments using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.
    • Develops, modifies and reviews Autocad drawings of electrical engineering systems and components according to established standards based on input from the electrical engineering team. Creates and maintains all project drawings and calculations.
    • Works closely with project team and assists to complete projects on aggressive schedules. Projects can vary in size and complexity including voltage classes, interconnection method, location and parameters.
    • Individual must be flexible to work on any type of project that is required within the first 2 years or until an electrical engineering specialty can be determined.
    • Performs all work in a clear, complete, and accurate manner.
    • Works independently on smaller internal support projects with some oversight and mentoring from experienced engineers.
    • Learns from senior engineers and then utilizes knowledge and experience to derive calculations, code assessment and design drawings (one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, layout / plans, etc.).
    • Produces equipment schedules, making changes and adjustments as necessary with input from the engineering team as required.
    • Utilizes knowledge and experience in applying drafting principles for drawings.
    • Actively seeks new knowledge related to engineering practices, principles and regulations changes.
    • Takes personal responsibility for promoting Maser Consulting, P.A. wherever possible with contacts to develop new business relationships.
    • Is quick and responsive while fostering a commitment to external and internal client service.

    Qualifications

    • 0-3 years’ experience
    • Internships within the consulting engineering industry preferred
    • EIT / FE preferred or obtained within 6 months of employment and pursuit of PE a requirement
    • Local Candidates only
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with clients
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, Master's degree a plus
    • Drafting experience utilizing AutoCad
    • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices
    • Basic knowledge of building codes and NEC2017
    • Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of plans, sections diagrams and equipment schedules, and drawings
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD required
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Microsoft project a plus
    • Basic knowledge of renewable plant design, interconnection and permitting a plus
    • Basic knowledge of medium and high voltage substation design, interconnection and permitting a plus
    • Ability to perform standard computer drafting functions using AutoCAD and be able to resolve design conflicts
    • Ability to effectively meet deadlines
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to work in team environment
