Overview

Under the direction of the Controller, the Credit & Collections Manager provides management and oversight of all aspects of A/R and Collections.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all members of the A/R team including Collections, Cash Receipts, Credit Memo’s and Record Retention
  • Ensure timely and accurate collections of all billed amounts
  • Manage and update policies and processes for the entire A/R department and ensure adherence to company guidelines
  • Research and resolve discrepancies in client billing and payments
  • Meet monthly cash collection target 
  • Work with internal hirnig managers to communicate situations impacting prompt customer payment due to operational issues and to timely and accurately record adjustments to previously invoiced items
  • Work with and be a Key Member on special projects and contribute to material and identifiable improvements to the overall processes (from Invoicing through Cash Receipts)
  • Manages relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Assist in providing A/R related audit requests
  • Work with collection and legal agencies for past due accounts
  • Establish Credit guidelines and evaluate customer risk
  • Pull and evaluate business credit reports
  • Analyze financial statements of large, high-risk customers and report findings and recommendations to senior management
  • Develop and communicate reports indicating A/R Balances (all aspects of A/R)
  • Communicate department status in a clear and concise manner to management
  • Responsible for training and continued development of staff
  • Participate in special projects as required
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ experience managing all functions of a large A/R department
  • BS/BA in Accounting and/or Finance; related field is preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Working knowledge of BST preferred
  • Basic accounting knowledge (terminology, coding)
  • Staff management and people development skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Prior engineering experience preferred
  • System improvement experience (process focused)
  • Experience with system conversions / revision efforts
